After a 3-year wait, Bloodhounds returned in bloody and emphatic fashion for its second season.  The first three weeks have been incredibly positive, with some strong viewing numbers reported, especially for series that debuted almost three years ago.  Netflix has yet to renew the K-drama for a third season, but we’re hopeful it will be renewed soon. Here’s everything we know about Bloodhounds season 3 on Netflix.

Bloodhounds is a South Korean Netflix Original action-thriller series written and directed by Jason Kim, who adapted the series from the Korean webtoon of the same name by Jeong Chan. The series stars Woo Do Hwan, Lee Sang Yi, and Rain.

The series centers on rookie boxer Geon U and southpaw Hong U Jin, two boxers who become fast friends after facing off in the ring. When Geon U’s mother falls sick and is indebted to a ruthless loan shark, Geon U and Hong U Jin begin working for a generous moneylender, who is hellbent on taking the loan sharks down.

Bloodhounds season 3 renewal status

Official Renewal Status: Pending (Last Updated: 21/04/2026)

At the time of writing, Netflix has yet to confirm if Bloodhounds will be renewed for a third season.

The first week of the second season got off to a great start, pulling in 5 million views, up 1.6 million from the first season. The second season also saw viewership increase by 47% to 7.4 million, ranking 1st among non-English-language shows. The third week saw a signifcant 50% drop in viewership, but still a highly respectable 3.7 million views.

The second and third week’s viewership for season 2 is lower than the first season’s, but given it’s been three years since the first season was released, having the audience grow in the first week and retain a large percentage of its audience is remarkable.

Week in Top 10 Week Period Hours Viewed Views / CVE Weekly Rank
1 Mar 29 to Apr 5, 2026 INITIAL RELEASE 35,000,000 (New) 5,000,000 2
2 Apr 5 to Apr 12, 2026 51,400,000 (+47%) 7,400,000 1
3 Apr 13 to Apr 20, 2026 25,600,000 (-50%) 3,700,000 3

With only three weeks’ worth of data, it’s going to take a while yet before Netflix decides on renewal. Once we have a few more weeks of data, we’ll be able to get a clearer idea of whether Netflix will renew for a third season.

However, the early signs are extremely positive. Audience retention is crucial for any series, but growing your audience since the first season will play a major role in whether Bloodhounds is renewed.

What has the cast said about season 3?

Not a great deal has been said about the third season by the cast or director; however, in an interview with The Korean Times, lead actor Woo Do Hwan expressed his interest in a third season after being asked about the season 3 teaser at the end of the second season:

“I wonder now if I could ever deliver action this intense without ‘Bloodhounds.’ Ending it at Season 2 would feel too soon. I want to take this story as far as X-Men Wolverine’s endless saga — the possibilities feel infinite.”

Does Bloodhounds need a season 3?

Without a doubt, Bloodhounds needs a third season. Kim Geon U and Hong U Jin’s showdown with Im Baek Jeong had led to the loan shark being sent to prison, where he was believed to have been executed, with the picture of the assassination sent to Hong Min Beom. However, his death was faked, and instead of serving prison time, he has been enlisted to be a Bloodhound for a larger criminal organization.

While Kim Geon U and Hong U Jin are yet to learn of Im Baek Jong’s supposed fate, they have already acknowledged that they may have won the fight, but the war against the corrupt system will continue. As for Im Baek Jeong, once the kingpin of his world, he will now serve as a bloodhound and underling to Choi Sin Hyeong’s mysterious boss, Paichit Chaichana, who plans to bring one ton of meth to South Korea.

With an even more dangerous network working from the shadows, Kim Geon U and Hong U Jin’s work is cut out for them as fate will inevitably lead them on a collision course with Im Baek Jeong once more, and his new masters.

Who will return in Bloodhounds season 3?

We’d expect to see the following actors return in Bloodhounds season 3:

  • Woo Do Hwan as Kim Geon U.
  • Lee Sang Yi as Hong U Jin.
  • Rain as Im Baek Jeong.
  • Park Seo Joon as Choi Sin Hyeong.
  • Park Hoon as Moon Gwang Mu
  • Choi Si Won as Hong Min Beom.
  • Yun Yu Sun as Yun So Yeon.
  • Choi Young Joon as Min Gang Yong.
  • Ryu Kyung Soo Choi Gyeong Won.

When could we expect to see Bloodhounds season 3 on Netflix?

On the assumption that Bloodhounds is renewed, we could be waiting years for a third season. This is based on the fact that the first season was released on June 9, 2023, and the second season on April 3, 2026, almost 34 months later.

It’s doubtful the wait for a third season would be as extensive, but if it were to follow suit, then fans could be waiting until February 2029. It’s our hope that with the audience growth and retention, Netflix will renew Bloodhounds soon, and production can get underway sooner rather than later.

For now, we’re optimistic we could see Bloodhounds return sometime in 2028.
