Ransom Canyon star teases season 2 is coming ‘sooner than you know’

If you fell head over heels for Netflix’s original romantic drama series Ransom Canyon, then you have been waiting patiently (or impatiently, no judgment) for season 2 to make its premiere. We have officially passed the one-year mark since the show dropped in April 2025, and while the second season was expected to possibly be delayed, a new update suggests otherwise.

Even though Ransom Canyon season 2 began filming in September 2025 and ended up wrapped production in January 2026, Netflix omitted the hit series from its 2026 lineup preview. Not being featured on that list seemed to hint that we could be waiting until 2027 for season 2 to premiere, which would be a long wait. Thankfully, one of the show’s stars just gave fans some hope.

Ransom Canyon season 2 could be released this year after all

Garrett Wareing, who plays the lovable teen cowboy Lucas Russell in the series, shared a new carousel of photos on Instagram on April 22. He included a photo with fellow Ransom Canyon cast members Lizzy Greene and Jack Schumacher, which he also posted on his Stories with a very telling caption that seemed to tease the season 2 release window—in very wide terms.

“These cowboys are back on your screen sooner than you know,” Wareing wrote under the photo with his castmates, punctuating it with the suspicious eyes emoji. While the actor didn’t elaborate by sharing which season the new episodes would premiere in or even a month, even just seemingly confirming that Ransom Canyon could be returning this year is big win for fans!

Netflix hasn’t shared any teases for Ransom Canyon season 2 as of April 2026. The streamer itself hasn’t even confirmed that the romantic drama will be back sometime this year or provided a hint at the release date, much less released any behind-the-scenes snaps of the cast as Wareing did in his post (though his photo could very well be from a hang well after filming ended in January).

Because Netflix has been keeping quiet on the show in the first half of the year so far, we can count out a spring return for the series. It’s too soon for season 2 to receive a release in May, especially since the streamer already announced the new releases coming in that month. Considering Wareing said “sooner than you know,” we’re thinking summer could bring these cowboys back.

Again, June 2026 might be a little soon for Netflix to release Ransom Canyon season 2, especially since Sweet Magnolias season 5 releases on June 11. We could possibly see the show return sometime in July, which would be a fitting release alongside Little House on the Prairie on July 9. However, it’s probably more like that a late-summer drop in August or September is on the way.

Whenever Ransom Canyon season 2 premieres, there will be a lot of changes in store. Casey W. Johnson joins the main cast as Lucas’ brother Kit, while Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner depart the series as the Collins family. Steve Howey also joins the cast in a recurring role, likely stirring things up for Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly’s Staten Kirkland and Quinn O’Grady.

We’ll share more Ransom Canyon news and updates as they’re revealed by Netflix!
